Ep 93: Behind the Scenes: Lessons Learned from Testifying for Family Court Reform and HB24-1350
Apr 03, 2024 Season 1 Episode 93

Everyone that knows anything about our family court system knows that it continues to harm survivors of domestic violence and narcissistic abuse.  Most want extreme court reform, while those that benefit would like to keep it just like it is.

In this episode I share my experience testifying at the House Judiciary Committee in support of HB24-1350 and how listening to the opposition and those who showed up in the amendment position spotlighted areas that were unclear.  This changed my view of the bill from a support position to an amended position.

By the time you listen to this episode, the bill will likely have been amended and changed a bit and may have been voted on in different arenas.  There likely will not be a final vote on if this bill will be made into law at the time this episode is released.

The number one lesson that I learned from listening to all the testimony for this bill is the importance of clarity when it comes to setting any rules, laws, accountability, or standardization when a narcissistic person is involved.  They are so good at muddying the waters and exploiting loopholes and our laws need to be watertight.

Make sure to follow me on socials or hop on my email list to get updates on the passing (fingers crossed) of HB24-1350.
